The most common departure point for El Chalten is the city of El Calafate, located 220 km away via a paved road that takes less than 3 hs to cover.

If you come by car, take route 3 out of El Calafate and heading to Rio Gallegos. When you arrive at the intersection with route 40, turn left (north) and follow that same road until the intersection with route 23 where you will also turn left (west). Halfway to the town, you will find the historical Parador La Leona, where you can stop to stretch your legs and have a coffee.

If you come by bus, you can take one of the three daily buses (depending on the season) that connect El Calafate to El Chalten. All lines have two stops in the town, the first at the bus terminal located at the entrance of the town, and the second one at the north side of town, only 200 m from our hotel. Each stop depends on the company you travel with:

• Chalten Travel has a stop in Rancho Grande hostel
• Caltur has a stop in Pioneros del Valle hostel

If you would like to arrive in El Chalten directly from the airport without stopping in El Calafate, several companies offer a transfer service directly from the airport to the hotels here in El Chalten.

Once in El Chalten, the hotel is located in Calle 2 #45 (used to be Calle 7), just in the corner with Lionel Terray.
